Matching salad or dessert fork for the oldest of English designs, the Rattail was named after its method of strengthening and providing rigidity to the cutlery with the addition of a central rib, or rat-tail, which was added to the underside of spoons and forks. Today this feature has been incorporated seamlessly into the design. Part of the English, European and American place settings.
